Timeline Step by Step

 

Open Call Phase [Capsule Proposal] | 7 February 2022 - 16 May 2022 [23:59 GMT+8]

  1.  

    Register your capsule proposal on the platform (multi-participation is welcomed). You will need to fill in the application form available in the participant space and answer the questions below:

    • Current Issue in Singapore to be Addressed
    • Description of Proposed Solution
    • Maturity of Solution
    • Competitive Advantage of Proposed Solutions
    • Current Competing Technologies/Competitors
    • Impact of Proposed Solution
     

    Participants are also strongly encouraged to submit a five (5)-minutes video pitch which will help us understand your innovative solution. You may also feel free to add any extra document(s).

    We will also be organizing Info sessions on Zoom to explain more about this program on February 14, March 14, April 14 and April 27 - more information to come!


Shortlisting Round 1 | 17 May 2022 - 6 June 2022

  • The panel of judges from CHISEL and its partner healthcare clusters will shortlist up to sixty five (65) Start-ups/SMEs to move onto the next round. The evaluation criteria will be the following:

    • Healthcare Need & Relevance
      • Solution addresses important healthcare problem/need and is according to the Challenge theme and problem statement.
      • Solution is suitable and relevant to the healthcare setup and system of NUHS, SHS, NHG
    • Innovation
      • Solution has demonstrated innovation and competitive advantage over current available solutions
    • Near Market or Market Ready
      • The solution is TRL 7 and beyond or Healthcare Translational Level 3 and beyond
      • Has prior clinical validation, demonstration of efficacy or has been implemented
      • Has prior safety and regulatory compliance registration / licensing (Licensing is not mandatory requirement, but these aspects can be used as a gauge of solution maturity)
    • Impact
      • Solution demonstrates clear outcomes and impactful benefit to Patient/Community of Carers

     

    The results will be announced by June 6, 2022.

Proposal Development Phase [Full Proposal] | 6 June 2022 - 4 July 2022 [23:59 GMT+8]

  • Before July 4, 2022 at 23:59 GMT +8, shortlisted participants will be required to submit their full proposal, replying to the following questions:

    • Current Issue in Singapore to be Addressed
    • Description of Proposed Solution
    • Maturity of Solution
    • Competitive Advantage of Proposed Solutions
    • Current Competing Technologies/Competitors
    • Impact of Proposed Solution
    • Viability of Proposed Solution
    • Commercial Applications and Economic Viability of Proposed Solution
    • Success Statement
    • Test-bedding Plan
    • Safety and Regulatory Considerations
    • Team
    • Budget for the Test-bedding
    • Payment Milestones
     

    Additionally, the teams will have to submit a pitch deck of maximum fifteen (15)-slides including: Problem Statement, Summary of Solution (Including description, maturity, competitive advantage, impact of the solution), Business Plan, Test-bedding Plan and Budget.

     
     

Shortlisting Round 2 | 5 July 2022 - 22 July 2022

  • The panel of judges from CHISEL and its partner healthcare clusters will shortlist up to twenty (20) Start-ups/SMEs to move onto the next round. All submissions will be evaluated for three (3) weeks according to the following criteria:

    • Healthcare Need & Relevance
      • Solution addresses important healthcare problem/need and is according to the Challenge theme and problem statement.
      • Solution is suitable and relevant to the healthcare setup and system of NUHS, SHS, NHG
    • Innovation
      • Solution has demonstrated innovation and competitive advantage over current available solutions
    • Near Market or Market Ready
      • The solution is TRL 7 and beyond or Healthcare Translational Level 3 and beyond
      • Has prior clinical validation, demonstration of efficacy or has been implemented
      • Has prior safety and regulatory compliance registration / licensing (Licensing is not mandatory requirement, but these aspects can be used as a gauge of solution maturity)
    • Impact
      • Solution demonstrates clear outcomes and impactful benefit to Patient/Community of Carers
      • Solution demonstrates a clear potential for impactful benefit to hospital and/or system outcomes (i.e. Better value and cost effectiveness for the patient and/or health system
      • Solution demonstrates environmental sustainability (e.g. lower carbon footprint in its production, use, or disposal)
    • Ease of Transition to adopt by users
      • Solution demonstsrates ease of transition into mainstream use by patients, carers, staff (e.g. ease of implementation into workflows, accessible, convenient to use)
      • Affordability / cost-effectiveness

     

    The results will be announced by July 24, 2022.

Shortlisting Round 3 & Interviews | 25 July 2022 - 24 August 2022

  • Between July 25 and August 24, the top twenty (20) Start-ups/SMEs will be invited to present their solution during interviews with our clinical partners. They would be required to submit their reply of the following question in the portal:

    • Adoption Plan (i.e. after test bedding)

    Time will be allocated for the presentation and Q&A.

    The projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

    • Business Plan
      • Solution demonstrates sufficiently feasible business plan market strategy
      • Solution demonstrates a potential for financial sustainability
      • The team is well structured and has the required skillset


    Announcements of results will be made by August 24, 2022.

Coaching and Final Event | 25 August 2022 - 9 September 2022

  • The panel of judges from CHISEL and its partner healthcare clusters will shortlist up to twelve (12) Start-ups/SMEs to move onto the final round. The finalist Start-ups/SMEs will be coached by CHISEL and partner healthcare clusters experts to fine tune their proposal for the final event.

    The finalist will be given up to two (2) weeks to further fine tune the proposals for the final event that will take place online on September 9, 2022. Finalists will have to submit their final pitch deck on the platform before September 8, 2022 at 23:59 (GMT +8).

    The finalists will pitch to the selection panel composed of senior management and domain experts from the partner healthcare clusters. Up to six (6) winners will be selected at the end of this round. Guidance on submission materials will be provided at a later date to shortlisted participants. Next steps for the Winners | September 2022 onwards!

  • Successful winning start-ups/SMEs will be matched to one of the participating healthcare clusters carrying out the test-bedding project!

    They will be granted two (2) month of preparation time to finalise the project agreement, up to six (6) months to complete test-bedding, and up to two (2) months to complete the evaluation.


    Test-Bedding & Evaluation (For Selected Winners)

    1. Test-Bedding Phase

      September 2022 –April 2023

      • Refine the test bedding protocol, and define success criteria of the test-bedding project with the partner healthcare cluster. A Project Agreement should be set up within two (2) months.
      • Complete test-bedding in a simulated and/or clinical environment complying to regulations and institutional policies in the partner healthcare cluster. This should be completed within six (6) months.
    2. Evaluation Phase

      May 2023 – June 2023

      • Upon completion of the test-bedding phase, the partner healthcare clusters would evaluate the success of the test-bedding project. The partner healthcare clusters may engage an independent expert for the purpose of evaluating the proof-of value/test-bedding project at their discretion.
